Who, what, and why (purpose and audience) are clear. What are the purposes and who is the audience?

I can find a brief definition of what Edmodo is (e.g., a global education network) and the purpose of the site (e.g., helps connect all learners with people and resources needed to reach their full potential). Unfortunately, it is placed at the very bottom of the main page.
At the front page, I can also find the keywords: learn better together with its brief description, signaling that the website can be for students, teachers, and parents.

3

Site appeals and makes sense to teachers and/or students.
In what way(s)?

The site starts with teaching and learning related keywords (e.g., tools that teachers need) and their brief descriptions (e.g., send messages, share class materials, and make learning accessible anywhere). I can see some colorful pictures to illustrate the descriptions as well.

4

The design shows users what to do next. How does it do so?

At the main page, I can find the learn more and resources options with a down arrow that guides me to explore further information about Edmodo. I can also see some phrases (e.g., show me how, learn more, tell me more, get started) printed in orange that signal what I should do next.

5

Information is quick to find and clear. What makes it so?

I can scroll down the site to read some keywords describing Edmodo and their brief descriptions. Yet, I still need to make some clicks to read more information.

4

Type is easy to read and follows design principles.
In what way(s)?

I sense an alignment issue. The designer mixed the left and right alignment on the site (e.g., see the position of the first and second pictures). Also, the size of the picture does not align with the text on its right or left sides. However, I like the font used on the website that the designer uses on the website. Besides, the designer repeatedly prints the keywords in different colors (e.g., blue and orange) to catch my eye-attention.

3

Color is used correctly.
How is it used?

The use of blue color (e.g., tools that teachers need) and the orange color (e.g., show me how) are good color complements. However, I would prefer a darker color for these words, for educators, for students, for families, to make a clear contrast on the website.

4

Grid alignment is clear and information follows an F pattern. Why is the alignment clear?

The design does not follow the F pattern as my eyes need to go in the right-left-right way to read the information available on the home page. Then, if I see the brief description of Edmodo at the very bottom of the site, the information there is not aligned well with the above text.

2

Images, videos, and graphics support the ideas/text How do they do so?

There are pictures to illustrate descriptions on the website. Perhaps, providing videos will help me to find more information about Edmodo more completely.

3

Navigation is simple.
Why is it simple?

I can just scroll down the site to read brief descriptions of Edmodo. The keywords (e.g., show me how, learn more, and tell me more) on the website can navigate me to explore further information about Edmodo.

4

Overall evaluation:
The designer needs to fix the alignment issues on the site.
Yet, I generally like the simple design of the website.
